SIlver age: lasted from roughly the late 1950's to the early 1970's. This type of comic followed the golden age and helped to bring comics back from a decline. Within this time period the magic was replaced with science fiction, and it was the first time that heroes were self doubting (Flash)

Bronze age: lasted from early 1970's to the middle of the 1980's. This type of comic book followed the silver age and although it still contained bright colors, it began to include darker themes and real world problems. (The self destruct of superman.)

Golden age: lasted from the early 1930's to the late 1940's. This type of comic was when the comic entered a mainstream art form, and it was also when many main comic characters were formed. this includes superman and batman from the dc comics. (superman, batman)

Modern age: lasted from the middle of the 1980's until present day. This type of comic often times is more complex, especially the characters. This type of comics is often a much darker type of comic and is also known as the Dark Age of comic books. (Watchman)

Platinum age: Began after the Victorian age. This is when the comic book began to take the form that we know of today. (yellow kid)
